Original oil painting. This is the Summer of '20.  This is also the first Pandemic in 100 years.  We are ordered by the government to social distance.  I suppose many of my paintings will have inspiring elements such as this girl sitting on the beach six feet away from the guy to her right (and probably another to her left).  Just imagine.

This is an original work of art by California artist, Nancy Tokos, member American Impressionist Society and Oil Painters of America.  Oil on canvas panel.  Safely packaged and shipped but please allow 1-5 days for shipping. Everything is shipped due to the Pandemic 2020.

Original. I had painted a study of Marilyn Monroe a few years back.  I was learning the portrait and so ... it was a very "tight" rendering.  It's great fun to paint Monroe a few years later (and several hundred paintings!).  Helps me see my "style" progress.

Oil on Masonite

Price $ 325

©Nancy Tokos 2014

Original.  Sometimes, the title says it all.  This is a study of snow and the similarities with water.  The underpaint, the gesso'd texture lend to the looseness I was hoping to achieve.  A young boy wearing short trousers can only mean he is from Great Britain, as I came to learn in my life,  the English believe bare legs in winter "toughen up" the little men.

This is an original work of art by California artist, Nancy Tokos, member American Impressionist Society and Oil Painters of America.  Oil on gesso'd masonite board.  Safely packaged and shipped via FedEx but please allow 1-5 days for shipping. Save shipping and take delivery from my bricks and motar studio location in San Diego.  Most of my Oil paintings + drawings are very handsome in "barnwood" frame, my favorite available at Frame USA http://www.frameusa.com/.  However, this one comes with a great white wood frame (displayed).

Original.  This is a most adorable baby, well, 2 year old, that I have painted !  Nice story behind the oil painting.  Proud father-to-be knocked on my studio door and wanted a drawing from the Ultrasound photos. I looked at the set of 4 and said, which one ? Not missing a beat, he said, "all four !!"

Well, Stefanie and Josh had their beautiful baby a few months later.  I've done a few more pencil sketches, marking special occasions.  When I saw this innocent moment posted on Instagram, I knew it was time for an oil portrait.

CHURCHILL 2

Charcoal Wash on Bristol board

SOLD

©Nancy Tokos 2016

Original.  Churchill is a personal favorite.  This charcoal wash portrait has been kept at home and enjoyed until recently.  Gary Oldman portrayed the Prime Minister in "The Darkest Hour."  When the film was nominated for a 2018 Oscar in the Best Picture category, I told my husband this portrait was going on the wall in my studio.  Then I thought to myself, it's relevant right now, it'll probably find a new home.  But I said out loud, don't worry, I'll bring it home after the Oscars.  Well, it sold, 3 days after Oldman won for Best Actor.  Not telling the husband ...

Mr. Kardec

Original.  This is a portrait of Allan Kardec, a spiritualist who died in 1869.   I was commissioned to paint his portrait.  It was a terrific challenge.  Many lithographs exist of Kardec but only a few photographs as photography became more available to the general public about 1835. I was give creative freedom.  As I researched, I kept returning to a particular lithograph from which I used an inspiration.  I am quite proud of my interpretation, although it is a slight deviation from my usual approach to the portrait.

Wikipedia describes Mr. Kardec " ... Allan Kardec is the pen name of the French educator, translator and author Hippolyte Léon Denizard Rivail. He is the author of the five books known as the Spiritist Codification, and is the founder of Spiritism."
