Original. I had painted a study of Marilyn Monroe a few years back.  I was learning the portrait and so ... it was a very "tight" rendering.  It's great fun to paint Monroe a few years later (and several hundred paintings!).  Helps me see my "style" progress.

Original.  This is a most adorable baby, well, 2 year old, that I have painted !  Nice story behind the oil painting.  Proud father-to-be knocked on my studio door and wanted a drawing from the Ultrasound photos. I looked at the set of 4 and said, which one ? Not missing a beat, he said, "all four !!"

Well, Stefanie and Josh had their beautiful baby a few months later.  I've done a few more pencil sketches, marking special occasions.  When I saw this innocent moment posted on Instagram, I knew it was time for an oil portrait.

Original.  First trip to U.S.A.  First trip to California.  First trip on a paddleboard.  Reknown surfer, Ryan Miller, was kind enough to show Oliver the basics of this popular sport.  Oliver is already an accomplished sportsman, he's ranked in the United Kingdom, and improving his rank with each race.  Now he's good at paddleboarding.  Thanks to his grandfather, his family has a nice painting to remember the moment.  Commissioned.

Original.  Sometimes, the title says it all !  Beach chairs have been popular with my collectors.  Giving them a title ... Beach Chair #1 ... Beach Chair #2 ... Original.  September FINALLY !  If you are a local in San Diego, you understand completely what I am talking about.  The tourists.  Everywhere.  Everyday.  Early morning.  Late night.  They are up at the crack of dawn sitting (or to be honest) or sleeping in the middle of a heap of blankets alongside one of the six firepits.  The law states you have to have burning logs so some poor guy pulled the short straw and got out of his nice warm bed at 4:00AM to be on the beach early enough to claim squatter rights to a firepit.  If he isn't there early enough, he risks the wrath of the family reunion who have been planning this picnic for weeks.  So if you are still reading this, you may be asking the bigger question:  why did I title it "How I Met Your Mom."  Because with someone somewhere, this actually HAPPENED.
