Original.  Churchill is a personal favorite.  This charcoal wash portrait has been kept at home and enjoyed until recently.  Gary Oldman portrayed the Prime Minister in "The Darkest Hour."  When the film was nominated for a 2018 Oscar in the Best Picture category, I told my husband this portrait was going on the wall in my studio.  Then I thought to myself, it's relevant right now, it'll probably find a new home.  But I said out loud, don't worry, I'll bring it home after the Oscars.  Well, it sold, 3 days after Oldman won for Best Actor.  Not telling the husband ...

Charcoal wash technique was perfect for this figurative study, mostly in shadow. This is a mixture of charcoal sticks and powder. The velvet shawl detail brought added interest because of the depth of blackness achieved with mere charcoal powder.

This is an original work of art by California artist, Nancy Tokos, member American Impressionist Society and Oil Painters of America.  Charcoal on paper. Safely packaged and ready to frame but please allow 1-5 days for shipping. Charcoal paintings + drawings are very handsome in a wooden frame, my favorite is barnwood found at Frame USA http://www.frameusa.com/.

* colors, values, may vary slightly between the actual painting and the image on your computer due to my digital camera settings, time of day the photograph is taken and the monitor you are looking at right now. *
