Original.  Crystal Pier is located in Pacific Beach.  Every local knows about this pier because you can literally rent a New England-styled cabin and sleep over the ocean.  This is not a spontaneous decision, you have to book months in advance.  I had a stressful (but fun) career in Los Angeles and decided to keep my summer vacation easy.  Five days of sleeping out on the balcony was better than a trip to the Moon.

Original oil painting.   This is painted from a series of photos I took during a morning walk on the nearby pier.  At first, I kept a distance of about 20 ft.  The sunlight was good and the bird remained still.  I crept closer and closer until I was within 2 ft.  The queen turned her head to the right.  Then the left.  From the series of photos taken that day, I've done three paintings.  That's more than I've painted my husband.  Ha ha ha !

Original.  Autumn is here and in 3 days, it's Halloween.  Especially around Crystal Pier in San Diego, CA. That would be inspiration enough for this painting.  If I leave my art studio at the right time, this is my view when I pull into the driveway. Lucky me !!

Original.  My husband and I walk the beach to the pier every morning.  This morning, at the far end of the pier, sat a magnificent pelican.  I un-capped my camera, stood still and zoom'd in.  I took a few steps forward.  Took more photos.  Bird stood still, turned head right.  Turned head left.  I walked 10' closer.  Took another impressive series.  Bird continued to sit.  I walked within 3' and wow, there was my hero shot.  And that ... is the painting.
