Original.  This is a portrait of Allan Kardec, a spiritualist who died in 1869.   I was commissioned to paint his portrait.  It was a terrific challenge.  Many lithographs exist of Kardec but only a few photographs as photography became more available to the general public about 1835. I was give creative freedom.  As I researched, I kept returning to a particular lithograph from which I used an inspiration.  I am quite proud of my interpretation, although it is a slight deviation from my usual approach to the portrait.

Wikipedia describes Mr. Kardec " ... Allan Kardec is the pen name of the French educator, translator and author Hippolyte Léon Denizard Rivail. He is the author of the five books known as the Spiritist Codification, and is the founder of Spiritism."

Original oil painting.  A neighbor colleague hosted an art exhibit for Star Wars fans.  Otto asked if I would do a painting.  Since I had not done a 3-person portrait, I instantly saw the opportunity !

Original.  Experimenting with painting surfaces.  This is masonite that has been textured with old newspaper, book pages and gesso.  Then I stained with oil paint thinned with mineral spirits and splattered with gesso. Elvis was the only guy I could think of (at the moment) that could match the energy of the background.

This is an original work of art by American Impressionist and California resident, Nancy Tokos.  Oil on treated masonite.  Safely packaged and shipped 1-5 days following the PayPal transaction.  You can also save on shipping and take delivery from my bricks and mortar location in San Diego.  Colors and values may vary slightly between the actual oil painting and the image on your computer.

Original.  I enjoy drawing the portrait and to be honest, Angelina has ideal proportions.  Grace Kelly is another "perfect" face as is George Clooney.  Brad wasn't too shabby either !

This is an original work of art by Nancy Tokos, California Artist.  Member: American Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America and San Diego Portrait Society.  Charcoal on 400lb. Bristol paper. Safely packaged and shipped via USPS.  Please all 1-5 days to ship.  Or, save the shipping fee and take delivery from my bricks and mortar studio in San Diego CA.  Oil paintings and drawings are very handsome in a rough wood "barnwood" frame.  My favorite www.framesusa.com/woodframes. The computer colors (above) may vary.  Values may be slightly different from the actual painting and the image on your computer.
