Original.  This is a Snowy Egret and they are very busy on the beach in the morning.  Along with the sandpipers ! And the seagulls and pelicans.  Catching one of them in -flight was a real moment.  The sun's back lighting dictated the simplicity of this canvas.

Original.  England has been having a very long Winter until this past weekend.  Suddenly the temperature made it up to nearly 70C.  Even though the temps warmed up in the middle of the work week, everybody in Central London took to the cloth beach chairs in the parks.

Original.  If I am lucky enough to leave the studio before the sun sets, I can catch the crowd that is headed out for a a good ending to their day.  Where we live is at streets end but it has a stairway to the beach and is very popular with the surfers.  I have used creative license with this woman's gear.  Everybody, and I do mean everybody, wears an unimaginative black wetsuit. Good for cold water surfers.  Bad for my collectors who appreciate a pretty girl.  As a side note, Jack O'Neill pioneered the wetsuit, which became wildly popular in the 80s.  He passed away June 2017 at the age of 94.  Aloha.

Original. Our morning beach walk, last week, the water was more turquoise than normal. The dynamics of the oceans' turquoise blue is so pretty. This color combo is not a familiar sight in Southern California.  The 3-4 ft waves are typical.  If we woke up to 30' waves, we'd be in Australia, but that is another painting.

Original.  My husband and I walk the beach to the pier every morning.  This morning, at the far end of the pier, sat a magnificent pelican.  I un-capped my camera, stood still and zoom'd in.  I took a few steps forward.  Took more photos.  Bird stood still, turned head right.  Turned head left.  I walked 10' closer.  Took another impressive series.  Bird continued to sit.  I walked within 3' and wow, there was my hero shot.  And that ... is the painting.

Original.  I had a great career in television.  There was a California program called "Friday At Sunset" and it aired every Friday at 7:00PM. Funnyman, Howard Stern, was the brilliant host. Howard traveled around to local bars, clubs, music, hidden gems, stores, concerts and more of what's happening Los Angeles.  We would also spend a fair amount of time going to the beach with just about any excuse, but it was usually for the sunset.  We never did a story on the best canvas beach chairs, but, if the show was still going, we would have.  I love painting them!
