Original.  There were a few titles for this painting that I was kicking around.  Usually, I have the title before I even start a painting.  Didn't want a title that makes you  think:  "oh that's clever" or the double entendre (which I like the best).  "Break From Reality" or "Beyond The Sea" or "Girl With a Braid" all kind of unimaginative.  Then, I stood back and thought, the hair tie.  I need to paint the hair tie.  (honestly, any excuse to use my really favorite color, Cadium Red Light).  I grabbed a squidge (more than a dot, and less than a glob) on a ratty old No. 1 sable, going through the motion as if it were one of my beloved .05 Bic mechanical pencils.  I have stuck with a simple title because I think the painting would be quite plain without a little red.
