Original. If you can't live by the beach and walk the beach every single morning, then you should pull up a chair and watch the ocean. As I do with all my paintings on hardboard (masonite), the surface is prepped with artists' gesso and then. in this case, stained a contrasting color. I've had interesting results with the lime green underpaint, moreso in landscapes than portraits.
